UK Premiere
Since the very succesful World Premiere, there has been a constant stream of requests for information on the long awaited UK Premiere. What we can say at this stage is that the show will be opening in the UK in September 2012 and will be touring the Midlands and the South of England for 12 weeks.
There will then be a 3 month break for Christmas and the New Year to allow everyone to catch their breath, and the show will then embark on a 16 week tour of the North of England and Scotland. More details of the exact dates and locations will be published here as soon as the various discussions currently underway have been finalised and confirmed.
After the World Premiere the writers went through the various DVD recordings and tapes of the Algarve production with a fine toothcomb, and they have since undertaken re-writes where it was felt necessary to make the show livelier, faster paced and at the same time more poignant.
One of the original songs from the World Premiere has been taken out, but three new songs, an emotional new ballad and two lively dance numbers, have been added. If you've got the best Lindy Hop dancers in the world performing in your show, then it seemed only right to give them more opportunities to show the world what they are capable of.
If you were unlucky enough to have missed the production in the Algarve, then make sure you don't miss the start of the UK run when it is finally announced on this website and in both the UK and world press.
The UK Tours will again be directed by Ray Jeffery who did a wonderful job with the World Premiere, and both Jonathan Reynolds and Sarah Pryde have agreed to reprise their roles as Winston and Clemmie. 'Swing Extreme' will again provide the main dancers and Ryan Francois (who choreographed Ola Jordan and Chris Hollins brilliant winning Charleston routine in last years Strictly Come Dancing final) is even now working on the choreography.
The UK Premiere will be a very special Red Carpet evening and a wonderful opportunity for all the ladies to wear their finery, and for the gentlemen to give their dinner jackets a rare outing. We will let you know on these pages when and where you can purchase your tickets as soon as everything has been finalised - hopefully by the end of September 2011.
When in several years time the show is on tour round the world, with productions in the West End and Broadway and people talk about the very beginnings of 'CHURCHILL - The Musical', let us hope that you are one of those people who can proudly say
'I was there'.
