Derek Charles Ash is English and started writing lyrics at Grammar school and has written over 200 songs in his lifetime. All of his songs come from the heart, from real life experiences that he says simply have to be expressed. Derek's lyrics have real meaning.
Derek has co-written two musicals: The first, 'Atlantis' with Murray Head and now 'CHURCHILL - The Musical', co-written with Trevor Holman. Derek has also written many commercials and collaborated on stories for radio with Warner Reprise and he was also the first English DJ in the USA
with his programme circulated to over 2,000 FM radio stations.
Derek has always had a penchant for business, and during his life he has worked his way up the ladder from office boy to salesman, sales manager, sales director, marketing manager, marketing director and managing director.
Derek is a businessman in his own right, currently being chairman, CEO, or director of several ethical and worthwhile companies that all demonstrate a moral obligation to both their clients and employees alike. Some of Derek's companies have held Lloyds ISO Quality Certification for over ten years
Derek was a member of the Institute of Marketing and an Exporter of the Year award winner for the West of England. He was also an organizer of the original Festival of Mind and Body. Derek has been offered and turned down many lucrative business opportunities which he considered would pose a threat to his independence.
Derek has also appeared in major television commercials and has also worked as a film extra. Derek now lives in the Algarve in southern Portugal with his wife Susan.
